QUETTA: Lawyers staged a protest demonstration in front of the Quetta Press Club on Saturday, against the non-recovery of two kidnapped lawyers Munir Ahmed Mirwani and Agha Zahir Shah.
Advocate Munir Ahmed Mirwani was abducted over a year ago from Khuzdar district by a group of armed men while Advocate Agha Zahir Shah, who was assisting the High Court over the cases of Baloch missing persons, was kidnapped some eight months ago from Quetta.
Addressing the protestors, Balochistan Bar Association Presdident Dawood Kasi and General Secretary Manzoor Bangulzai said government should play its due role for the recovery of missing lawyers. “It is matter of great irony that no practical step was taken on the part of government to trace the missing lawyers despite the lapse of years,” they added. He vowed to continue to protest until their colleagues are released.
The lawyers had already set-up a hunger strike camp outside the bar room and lawyers are observing hunger strike daily. “The government should take the issue seriously,” said Dawood Kasi.
