Balochistan: doctors’ strike enters third day against the targeted killings and kidnapping

quetta-doctors-PPI-670QUETTA: The province-wide doctors’ strike against the targeted killings and kidnapping for ransom of Balochistan doctors entered its third and final day here on Saturday, causing serious difficulties for patients from remote areas, DawnNews reported. The strike was announced by the Balochistan chapter of the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) who took the stance that the government had taken no action to recover the kidnapped doctor and curb the targeted killings of doctors in the province. The PMA Balochistan also asserted that due to the deteriorating law and order situation in the province, it was difficult for them to perform their professional duties. The ongoing strike was announced in the wake of the kidnapping of Dr Saeed Ahmed Khan, a renowned eye specialist, from Quetta’s Sariab Road and the killing of two doctors in other areas of the province. Due to the strike in the state-owned hospitals, privately-owned hospitals and clinics in the provincial capital saw a rise in the numbers of patients coming for treatment.http://dawn.com/2012/10/20/balochistan-doctors-strike-enters-day-three/
