Subject: Discovery of mass graves in Balochistan

Dear Secretary General,

We would like to draw your kind attention towards the discovery of mass graves in Khuzdar district of Balochistan (Pakistan). These graves were accidentally discovered in the Tootak village of Central Balochistan on 25 January 2014.
 Dear Sir,
It should kindly be noted that the Baloch nationalist parties and international human rights organizations -many of them are affiliated with the United Nation- had been expressing their concern over the gross violation of human rights by Pakistani security agencies in Balochistan for more than a decade. Thousands of the Baloch social and political activists were kidnapped by the security agencies or the para-military “death squads” since the beginning of the conflict between the Baloch and the Pakistani state in 2002. In order to crush the Baloch national struggle for freedom & the right of self-determination, the state security agencies have been picking students, doctors, engineers, tribal elites, social activists and leaders of political parties and after inhuman torture their mutilated bodies were dumped in remote areas of the Balochistan and some bodies of the Baloch activists were also recovered from Karachi in Sindh province of Pakistan. The recent discovery of mutilated bodies in such a large scale is the latest manifestation of the inhuman and barbaric nature of the ongoing military operation in Balochistan. According to Asian Human Right Commission, it is feared that more mass graves will be found in the coming days. However, the Pakistan Army, in order to hide its crimes, is not allowing any civilian or media outlets to visit the area.
 Dear Secretary General,
The Baloch are facing the cruellest state oppression in the contemporary history. Cultural, social, historical, economic and political marginalization by the religious fanatical state is the hallmark of the subjugation of the Baloch in Pakistan.
Dear Sir,
As the discovery of mass graves of the Baloch nationalist activists is the worst barbaric act in the 21st century so far, we would genuine be justified for demanding for sending a fact finding mission in Balochistan on urgent basis. We will be grateful if the UN could establish an international commission to investigate the heinous crimes against humanity being committed by Pakistan in Balochistan.
The UN and international community must not watch silently the violation of human rights and annihilation of an entire people by the Pakistani state. The silence of the UN and international community cannot be justified in the name of the principle of state sovereignty. We believed that this act of medieval mind-set should not go with impunity in a world of 21st century. The Baloch Human Rights Council (UK) therefore requests your immediate intervention. We request that this petition be taken as an urgent humanitarian appeal. Your immediate intervention could save not only countless innocent lives but could also prevent the present situation  in Balochistan from developing into a total genocide of the Baloch people.

Yours sincerely

General Secretary
Baloch Human Rights Council (UK)
