BHRC, IVBMP support For VBMP Long march for Justice in Vancouver, Canada

Inline image 1Vancouver, Jan 7, 2014 – International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (IVBMP) and Baloch Human Rights Council of Canada (BHRC) will start an awareness campaign to seek Canadian public support for the ongoing peaceful and historic long march by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) for justice and recovery of their love ones abducted by the Pakistani security forces in Balochistan. VBMP is a Balochistan-based advocacy group campaigning for the recovery of the thousands of Baloch political activists, abducted and kept in illegal confinement by the Pakistani state security forces. VBMP consists of families of the victims of the enforced disappearances since 2003 and has been waging a peaceful struggle for the last several years to gain international attention on the issue. The ongoing 2250-kilometer long march from Quetta (Balochistan) to Islamabad is being led by Abdul Qadeer Baloch, 70 year-old Vice President of VBMP, whose son Jalil Reki was abducted, tortured and executed in custody by the Pakistani state security forces. The U.N. representatives and ambassadors of Western democracies in Islamabad have a moral obligation to listen to the Baloch families’ stories of suffering and injustices experienced under Pakistan’s military and civilian governments. The West cannot look the other way and ignore the inhuman atrocities committed by the Pakistan Army in Balochistan for too long – the time to act has come, and it is now. VBMP & BHRC Canada invite human rights defenders and people from all walks of life to participate and support our awareness campaign on human rights in Balochistan.
