Balochistan lawyers protest colleague’s kidnapping

QUETTA: Lawyers boycotted proceedings of courts throughout Balochistan on Monday to protest the kidnapping of renowned lawyer Mukesh Kholi, who was abducted by armed men in Satellite Town on Friday morning. The strike call was given by Balochistan High Court Bar Association. The courts in Quetta wore a deserted look as lawyers did not appear in superior and lower courts and before local magistrates. Litigants faced inconvenience as hearings were adjourned until next dates. Strike was also observed in Mastung, Pishin, Chaman, Loralai, Panjgur, Sibbi, Naushki, Nasirabad, Kharan, Kalat, Khuzdar and other areas of Balochistan to condemn the abduction. Meanwhile, lawyers organised a protest rally from the Sessions Court and staged a protest demonstration at Manan Chowk. They announced to boycott court proceedings for one week and warned the government that strike would continue until the recovery of the abducted lawyer. staff report
